Josef Schweiger

Josef Schweiger (born July 20, 1920 in Vienna ; † February 24, 1977 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

After attending elementary school and a secondary school , Josef Schweiger passed his Matura in 1939 . In 1942 he found a job as an employee of the Austrian Post before he switched to the company's accounting service in 1946.

Within the Post, Schweiger was a union member , and in 1964 he became chairman of the Post and Telegraph Employees' Union. From 1970 to 1974 he acted as second vice-chairman of the board of directors of the Österreichische Postsparkasse .

In December 1974 he was sworn in as a social democratic member of the Federal Council. Schweiger was a member of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce until his death in February 1977. He died at the age of 56.
