Josef Steiner (politician, 1901)

Josef Steiner (born September 30, 1901 in Baldramsdorf , † July 13, 1973 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and farmer. From 1945 to 1966 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Steiner attended elementary school and worked as a farmer. From 1931 to 1934 he acted as the state secretary of the Association of Independent Labor Farmers in Carinthia and in 1935 took over his parents' farm. Due to his political activities, he was jailed for five months in a police prison and sentenced to one year in prison for high treason. Steiner worked locally as a local councilor in Baldramsdorf and was also Vice President of the Chamber of Agriculture for Carinthia. He represented the SPÖ from December 19, 1945 to March 30, 1966 in the National Council.
