Josef Waniek

Josef Waniek is a former German basketball player . He was a German national player in the 1980s. In the basketball league  , the development player scored a total of 2875 points during his career.

career

Waniek moved in 1979 from Koblenz to MTV 1846 Gießen  in the basketball league . The nimble and ball-safe builder developed thanks to his accuracy in throwing distance to the top performers of the Hessians, at times he was team captain.

In the spring of 1981 he made his debut in the German national team and took part in the European championship in the same year with the selection of the German Basketball Federation . In eight tournament appearances, Waniek scored an average of 2.2 points. After eleven years in the Bundesliga, he left MTV in 1990 and moved to Post-SV Karlsruhe.

Waniek later returned to Giessen and worked as a car salesman.
