Josef Wiesler

Josef Wiesler (born July 13, 1930 in German Schützen ; † June 4, 2012 ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1962 he was a member of the Burgenland state parliament , from 1972 to 1987 regional councilor in the Burgenland state government and from 1987 to 1990 President of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture .

education and profession

Josef Wiesler attended elementary school in Deutsch Schützen and then worked on his parents' farm. He graduated from the agricultural college in Güssing between 1951 and 1952 and subsequently worked as a farmer and winemaker, where his preference was for viticulture and he was particularly committed to quality viticulture and a higher wine and glass culture. In addition to his own farm, Wiesler was active in numerous cooperatives. In 1954 he was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Burgenland Viehverwertungsgenossenschaft, was from 1955 on the Supervisory Board and between 1957 and 1965 Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Burgenland Raiffeisen Association and finally held the office of President of the Burgenland Raiffeisen Association from 1965 to 1972. In addition, from 1957 to 1969 he was a member of the board of directors of the Raiffeisenkasse Deutsch Schützen and from 1974 to 1980 he was the deputy general advocate of the Austrian Raiffeisen Association . He was also chairman of the Raiffeisen warehouse in Großpetersdorf, chairman of the Burgenland pig breeding association and chairman of the supervisory board of the Burgenland dairy and milk cooperative association. Wiesler was awarded the professional title of economics council in 1980 .

Wiesler joined the ÖVP in 1950 and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture from 1958 to 1987, and was its President between March 5, 1987 and November 5, 1990. He represented the ÖVP between May 5, 1960 and February 17, 1972 continuously in the Burgenland State Parliament and was then between February 21, 1972 and March 18, 1987 Agricultural Councilor in the Burgenland State Government. In addition, Wiesler functioned within the party as ÖVP district party chairman for the Oberwart district and was regional chairman of the farmers' union between 1984 and 1990 . Until 1993 he also held the position of a member of the executive committee of the Austrian Farmers' Union, of which he was the treasurer.

Private

Wiesler was born as the son of the farmer Eduard Wiesler from Deutsch Schützen. He was married and had three children.
