The Austrian Raiffeisen Association (ÖRV) is a registered Austrian association ( ZVR number 113436576). The purpose of the association is to represent the interests of the Raiffeisen Group. In addition to representing interests, the ÖRV is also the auditing association for the Raiffeisen Group. As such, he is responsible for running an auditing company as an auditing association according to the Cooperative Auditing Act.

The ÖRV can initiate and implement the founding of institutions and companies of any legal form. In addition to the ÖRV, there are Raiffeisen associations in the individual federal states . The ÖRV is also active in the training of officials and employees of the Raiffeisen cooperatives (Raiffeisen Campus) and advising the Austrian Raiffeisen cooperatives and as the publisher of the Raiffeisen newspaper.

history

The Austrian Raiffeisen Association was founded in 1898 after the number of loan offices working according to Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen's system in Austria had risen to around 600 by 1896. Today around 1,600 Raiffeisen cooperatives are looked after in 4 divisions (“money”, “goods”, “milk” and “other”). The elected chairman of the Austrian Raiffeisen Association traditionally bears the title “Advocate General” and is the highest representative of all Raiffeisen cooperatives in Austria. Walter Rothensteiner has held this position since 2012 .
