Josef von Helden

Josef von Helden (born October 2, 1964 in Mönchengladbach ) is a professor of computer science at the University of Hanover .

Life

Von Helden received his doctorate from RWTH Aachen University , where he previously studied computer science and business administration . Before he received a professorship at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences in 1999 (at that time still Hanover University of Applied Sciences), he worked for the IT security department at Debis . He teaches and researches there mainly in the areas of operating systems , computer networks and IT security . In addition, he was dean of Faculty IV at the university and served on the university senate for more than nine years.

Von Helden was elected President of the University of Hanover on March 25, 2014 and took office on May 12, 2014.

Von Helden founded the research group Trust @ HsH (originally Trust @ FHH), which mainly deals with security aspects of information technology infrastructures. He is also active as a Scientific Member of the Network Commission of the German Research Foundation (DFG)
