Josefine von Artner
Josefine von Artner , actually Josefine von Artanyi ( November 10, 1869 in Prague - September 7, 1932 in Leipzig ) was an Austro-German opera singer ( soprano ) and singing teacher .
Life
Josefine von Artner, daughter of a kk colonel, first attended the Vienna Conservatory as a piano player. As her pretty voice came into its own, she was accepted into the class of singing professor Reß, where she proved to be a talented actress. In 1888 she went to the stage and was engaged at the Leipzig City Theater immediately after completing her studies. She worked there for three years and from there, after a year as a guest performance, was engaged for three years at the Court Opera Theater in Vienna (1890-1893). After her contract expired, she was the first soubrette to join the Association of the Hamburg City Theater, where her contract was extended three times until 1908. At that time she received an invitation to the Bayreuth Festival every year .
From 1910 she was a singing teacher in Dresden and later in Leipzig.
Her mother was the singer Marie von Artner-Grenso , her sister Gabriele von Artner (1871-1931) was also a soprano .
