Joseph Anton Mathes

Joseph Anton Mathes , also Mattes (born November 3, 1800 in Deilingen , Oberamt Spaichingen; † May 30, 1874 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg civil servant and politician.

family

Joseph Anton Mathes was the son of the surgeon Joseph Mathes (1754–1817) in Deilingen and Elisabeth born. Karle (1760-1817). In 1835 he married Julie Eble (1803–1895), they had one child.

job

He began as an assessor at the Catholic Church Council, later he was a government councilor in Ellwangen. In 1857 he became senior government councilor in Stuttgart and director of the ministerial department for road and hydraulic engineering at the Ministry of the Interior.

politics

In 1844 Mathes was elected to the Württemberg state parliament in the Spaichingen constituency, to which he was a member until 1848. For the second time he entered the state parliament in 1856 for the constituency of Ellwangen. In 1862 he returned to the constituency of Spaichingen and was able to defend his mandate. He held the mandate until 1868.
