Joseph Augustin Ginzel

Joseph Augustin Ginzel (born May 1, 1804 in Reichenberg ; † June 1, 1876 in Leitmeritz ) was an Austrian theologian, politician and author.

Live and act

After studying theology , Ginzel was ordained a priest in 1828. In 1837 he was appointed to the chair for church history and canon law at the theological faculty in Leitmeritz.

In addition to his teaching activities, Ginzel, who belonged to the Bohemian Academy of Sciences, published numerous publications.

Between 1872 and 1873 he was a liberal member of the Vienna Imperial Council .
