Joseph Hecht
Joseph Hecht (born December 14, 1891 in Łódź , † June 19, 1951 in Paris ) was a Polish painter and graphic artist who later lived in France .
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow from 1909 to 1914 , after which he lived in Norway until 1919 , and from 1920 in Paris . He participated in many art exhibitions, including a. at Salon d'Automne and Salon des Indépendants , in the United States , England and Poland . Two of his paintings were awarded gold medals at the 1937 Paris World's Fair .
In 1929 he co-founded the artist group La Jeune Gravure Contemporaine.
The focus of his work was landscape painting and animal representations . He avoided persecution of French Jews in World War II by moving to the Savoy region , near the Swiss-Italian border.
