Joseph Ma Yinglin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joseph Ma Yinglin ( Chinese  馬英林 , Mǎ Yīnglín; * 1965 ) has been Bishop of the Kunming Diocese of the Chinese State Church, Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association (CPV) since April 30, 2006 , and Chairman of the Bishops' Conference since 2010. He is also a member of the Chinese People's Congress. This proximity to the government was viewed critically in the Vatican , which is why the Roman Catholic Church also refused to give its consent. He was the first bishop since 2000 to be ordained by the CPV without prior consent. This led to his excommunication following canon law.

In 2018 he was recognized by Pope Francis in the Vatican.
