Joseph Pauli

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joseph Pauli (born December 16, 1769 in Tachau , † March 7, 1846 in Linz ) was an Austrian violin maker in Linz.

Pauli was born in December 1769 in Tachov (German: Tachau) in what is now the Czech Republic . Around 1798 Pauli was proven to be a violin maker in Vienna. Presumably he worked here as a student of the violin maker Johann Georg Thir . In the same year, the Viennese violin makers reported Pauli for illegitimately practicing the violin trade. He then moved to Linz, where he can be traced back to 1805. In 1812 he was granted citizenship and "violin maker justice".
