Joseph Rabstejnek

Joseph Rabstejnek (born January 15, 1921 in Saint-Malo , † March 6, 1996 in Avranches ) was a French football player .

Career

Rabstejnek was born in 1921 as the son of a Frenchman of Czech origin and as the older brother of Guy Rabstejnek (* 1924), who also took up the profession of football player. The older part of the siblings began playing soccer in his place of birth with the US Saint-Malo and then ran for the US Granville ; for both clubs he was used as an amateur player. He made the leap into paid football in 1945 when he was accepted into the squad of the first division team Stade Rennes a year after the liberation of France .

For Rennes, the striker made his debut on September 9, 1945 in a 3-3 draw against FC Sète in the top French division and scored two goals; He followed this up with more over the course of the season and ended up in seventh place on the top scorer list with 18 goals. In the 1946/47 season he hit the goal 13 times. In 1947 he signed with league rivals Stade Français ; later he worked in Saint-Brieuc as a coach in amateur football.
