Joseph Wang Dian Duo

Joseph Wang Dian Duo OAR (born February 3, 1921 , † July 27, 2004 in Jinan ) was a Roman Catholic priest . He was since 1996 Bishop of the Diocese of Heze in the People's Republic of China .

After finishing school, Joseph Wang Dian Duo entered the novitiate of the Augustinian recollects in 1938 . He made his perpetual profession on March 16, 1940 . After studying theology and philosophy in Hong Kong , he went to Manila , where he was ordained a priest on March 3, 1950 . On December 8, 1996 , he received his episcopal ordination .

Bishop Wang Dian Duo has been arrested several times: the first time he was sentenced to three months in prison in 1951, the second time he was sentenced to ten years in prison in 1955, and the third time he was sentenced to an additional ten years in prison in 1968. According to believers in his diocese, he is said to have spent over 20 years in prison.

Bishop Wang Dian Duo was known as a man of great apostolic zeal. With the bike he visited ten months a year, the parishes of his diocese, where he visited the believers, taught Katechumenisten, the sacraments donated, trying to rebuild the community of believers, from the places of worship.

One of the main concerns of the bishop was the rebuilding of the cathedral , which had been destroyed in the early 1980s , and which he was able to inaugurate in 2001 in the presence of around 20,000 believers. To date, the cathedral is the only church in the diocese.
