Joseph Wu Qinjing

Joseph Wu Qinjing ( Chinese  吳 欽敬  /  吴 钦敬 , Pinyin Wú Qīnjìng , born November 11, 1968 in Xingping ) is Bishop of Zhouzhi.

Life

Wu was born on November 11, 1968 in Wufeng Village, Xingping. After graduating from high school in 1989, he was admitted to the Shanghai Sheshan Seminary, where he graduated in 1995.

He was ordained a priest on February 11, 1996 by Yang Guangyan. In 2000 he went to the United States to study further. Three years later he received his Masters in Theology from Saint John's University . After receiving his Masters degree from Fordham University in New York in 2005, he returned home and continued teaching at Shaanxi Seminary.

In September 2006 he was placed under house arrest by the communist government. He was released in 2014.

In 2010 he was elected Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Zhouzhi. With the papal mandate on October 19, 2005, he accepted the office of bishop.
