Joshua Edmondson (born July 6, 1992 in Leeds ) is a British cyclist .

In 2010 Joshua Edmondson finished fourth in the road race at the UCI Junior Road World Championships in Offida and won the Eddie Soens Memorial in Liverpool . In 2011 he won the GP Agostano in Italy and was tenth in the overall ranking of the Giro della Valle d'Aosta the following year .

Edmondson's career led him to Team Sky in 2013 . After two years, he switched to the UCI Continental Teams An Post-Chain Reaction (2015) and NFTO (2016), which was dissolved at the end of the season.

Violations of the »no needle rule«

In March 2017, Edmonson announced to the BBC that in 2014 he had regularly administered vitamins and supplements by syringe. The substances themselves are not considered doping relevant; the administration by syringes was nevertheless a violation of the rules of the British Cycling Federation . Team Sky became aware of this behavior without reporting to the anti-doping authorities. Edmonson took this as management cover. Team Sky said, however, that Edmondson did not inject the drugs at all. At the end of an internal team investigation, they came to the conclusion that there was “no evidence of an anti-doping violation”. After his confession, the driver was "under observation" until the end of the contract. In addition, lawyers have been consulted who have confirmed that Team Sky is not obliged to report a violation of internal rules to the UCI or the anti-doping authorities.
