Jostein Smedbye (born March 9, 1977 ) is a former Norwegian ski jumper .

Career

Smedbye, who started for Raufoss IL , made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup on February 18, 1995 in ski flying in Vikersund . He won his first and only five World Cup points with 26th place and was 89th in the overall World Cup ranking at the end of the 1994/95 World Cup season. In the ski jumping competition he finished 41st. After jumping only to 49th place at the start of the following season in Lillehammer , he was transferred to the Ski Jumping Continental Cup and jumped there until 2002. In his first season in 1995/96 With 14 points, however, he only reached 127th place overall. After he did not jump into the ranking in the following season, he was again 127 in 1996/97. In the 1999/2000 season he achieved 71st place with 178 points and thus the highest placement in the overall Continental Cup ranking. After two more years at the end of the field, he ended his active ski jumping career in 2002.
