Jour fixe initiative berlin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The group jour fixe initiative berlin is made up of a group of left-wing philosophers and social critics who mainly live in Berlin .

The initiative was founded in October 1997. Since then, she has organized series of lectures on theory and criticism of society. One of the central questions is: “What does Auschwitz mean for a social criticism today?” Against the background of critical theory , psychoanalysis and theorists of French post-structuralism such as Foucault , Bourdieu or Derrida , an attempt is made to develop a theory that is critical of ideology “up to date of time ”, which corresponds to emancipatory demands.

Members of the group are currently (as of January 2018) Titus Engelschall, Elfriede Müller , Klaus Holz , Stefan Vogt, Krunoslav Stojakovic, Bini Adamczak , Jochen Klingner.

The results of this theoretical work are not comprehensive world views , but their deconstruction and criticism . Considerations for a social change are not projected into the future as a utopia , but always linked to the present to be reformed with an emphatic review of history. This is particularly clear from the fact that they basically include Auschwitz in their criticism of society, as well as the central role that Walter Benjamin's philosophy of history plays in their political thinking.
