Journal of Mathematical Physics

The Journal of Mathematical Physics (J. Math. Phys., JMP) is a journal of mathematical physics published by the American Institute of Physics since 1960 . At first it appeared every two months, since 1963 monthly.

Alongside Communications in Mathematical Physics, it is the leading journal in its field and the oldest journal specializing in mathematical physics. According to the editors, the articles should be understandable for theoretical physicists.

The editor is currently Jan Philip Solovej . The first editor was Elliott Montroll , from 1970 Morton Hamermesh , from 1979 John R. Klauder , from 1984 Lawrence C. Biedenharn , from 1992 to 2005 Roger G. Newton and 2006 to 2018 Bruno Nachtergaele .
