Journal of Visualized Experiments

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) is an electronic scientific journal , the experiments, especially in the fields of medicine , neurosciences , developmental biology , cell biology , botany , microbiology and immunology records on video and published. In addition to the video, the magazine publishes a descriptive text. The aim is to improve the reproducibility and transparency of experiments. The journal has existed since the end of 2006, has been peer reviewed and is listed in the PubMed database . The Journal of Visualized Experiments works with professional video agencies who can record the experiments.

According to the journal's editorial team, the difficult reproducibility and the tedious learning of new experimental techniques are nowadays one of the greatest problems faced by science in the biomedical fields. Since the complexity of research in biomedicine has increased exponentially in the past few years, the previous publication system using text and images is no longer sufficient to be able to pass on complicated research procedures and techniques.

While the articles in the journal were initially available free of charge ( Open Access ), a subscription has been required since April 2009.
