Journalist Prize for Civic Commitment
The Journalist Award for Civic Engagement of the Robert Bosch Stiftung was from 1998 to 2012 at an annual journalists awarded German-language media.
With the award, the foundation honored authors of outstanding media contributions on the subject of civic engagement in order to highlight the importance of this engagement for the future of our society. Journalists were honored who, with their reporting, contributed to increasing public awareness and appreciation of civic initiatives for the common good. The award was given to contributions that are exemplary and, if necessary, also critical and ask how and why people take responsibility for themselves and others.
Initially, the journalists' award for civic engagement was only advertised for print journalism (1st – 3rd prize and series prize). Since 2008 the prize has also been awarded in the radio and television categories. It was endowed with 10,000 euros each. The independent juries for the three categories of print, radio and television consisted of journalists and experts in voluntary work.
Journalists up to the age of 30 automatically entered the competition for the Marion Dönhoff Prize with their contributions . This was only awarded for newspaper or magazine articles and was endowed with 5,000 euros.
