Joyce trimmer
Joyce Trimmer (born November 10, 1927 in London , † May 17, 2008 ) was a Canadian politician .
Trimmer emigrated with her husband from England to Canada in 1954 and moved to the Toronto Islands . She worked as a businesswoman and teacher at the Victoria Park Collegiate Institute. In the 1970s she began to get involved politically. In 1974 she was first elected in local elections. She faced the 1988 mayoral election for Scarborough and won this office with 4,800 votes ahead of second-placed Norm Kelly. She remained mayor until 1994, making her the first woman in Scarborough in this office. Then she withdrew from politics.
