Juan Bianchi (painter)
Juan Bianchi Antogina (* 1817 in Milan , † 1875 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean painter of Italian origin.
Bianchi was trained as a painter and portraitist in Milan. In 1847 he traveled to Chile and became professor of painting at the school of Josefa Larraín de Aldunate . In 1848 he succeeded José Zegers at the Instituto Nacional . There José Miguel Blanco and José Mercedes Ortega were among his students. In 1852 he married Flora Tupper Zegers , a niece of José Zegers and daughter of the musician Isidora Zegers . In 1872 he received Chilean citizenship.
In 1863 he published a Tratado de Dibujo ruler . Much of his paintings have been lost. A self-portrait is in the possession of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes .
