Juan Carlos Montenegro

Juan Carlos Montenegro Benavides (born January 10, 1981 in Tulcán ) is an Ecuadorian cyclist .

Juan Carlos Montenegro won the bronze medal in the individual time trial of the U23 class at the Pan American Championship in 2002 . In the 2005 season he was successful on the twelfth section of the Vuelta a Ecuador . In 2007, Montenegro became the Ecuadorian time trial champion in Cayambe. He also won a stage in the Vuelta a Imbabura.

Montenegro has been a trained police officer since 2001 and rides for the cycling team that runs the Ecuadorian National Police School (which also has a soccer club in the Ecuadorian first division) in association with the Carchi Province Sports Federation . This is called Federación Deportiva del Carchi- Espoli . In 2004 he apparently had a short contract with the Spanish team Olid Club .
