Juan Carlos Paz (born July 17, 1958 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

Midfielder Paz first played in his Uruguayan homeland for Salus FC and Montevideo Wanderers . He then joined Deportivo Toluca in Mexico for a transfer fee of $ 130,000 . There he belonged from the 1978/79 season to 1986 the squad of the Mexican club. In the first five seasons he played 179 league games and scored 39 goals. In 1986 he moved to Colombia , where he played for Atlético Nacional that year . In 1987 he was signed by Club Atlético Peñarol . He won the Copa Libertadores with the Montevideans in 1987 . In this competition he ran five times for the "Aurinegros" in the first group stage and scored two goals. In the finals, however, Paz was not used. In the 1987/88 and 1988/89 seasons he was in ranks of UANL Tigres . This was followed by a renewed engagement with the Wanderers. In 1991 and 1992 he was again under contract with Peñarol in the Primera División . In 1992 he ended his career as a player for Club Atlético Cerro .
