Juan González (soccer player, I)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Juan González , also known by the nickname El Xochimilca , is a retired Mexican soccer player in the position of striker .

career

"Xochimilca" González joined the reigning Mexican champions Club Deportivo Guadalajara at the beginning of the 1961/62 season . Because the defending champion's two outstanding strikers, Salvador Reyes and Héctor Hernández , wanted to push through a raise that the club initially refused to give them, they refused to play the season opener against CF Atlante . Thus, "Xochimilca" was allowed to play the season opening game on June 14, 1961 and also scored the two goals for the 2-0 victory of his team.

After the club had given in and the salary demands of its two striker stars had met and they started again, González was hardly used. The only consolation was the glorious opening game and membership in the squad of the championship team of Club Deportivo Guadalajara in the 1961/62 season.

In the following second division season 1962/63 "Xochimilca" played for the Cuerudos de Ciudad Victoria .
