Juan José Rossi

Juan José Rossi (born November 19, 1932 in General Arsenales , Province of Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine historian who researches mainly on the indigenous people of Argentina.

Life

Juan José Rossi studied from 1946 to 1958 classical humanities, philosophy and theology at the Catholic Faculty of Buenos Aires . In the postgraduate phase he studied in Brussels (1962–1963) and at the Catholic University of Paris. Since 2001 he has been Professor of American History in Concepción del Uruguay at the Universidad Autónoma de Entre Rios (UADER).

Works

Rossi is the founder of two museums in which exhibits from various indigenous cultures are presented. His first large museum work is the Museo Yuchán in Concepcion del Uruguay, which is currently closed due to government austerity measures. The second major museum, the Museo Municipal Yvy Maräey in Chajarí, is primarily dedicated to the Guaraní culture . In his book series he has published separate books on the Charrúas , Yámana , Alakaluf , Wichí and Guaraní. He has also published numerous books on myths and religion as well as on design patterns of the indigenous people of Argentina.
