Nordbahnhof is a settlement in Nuremberg , west of the site of the former freight yard of the same name and belongs to the statistical district 25 Uhlandstrasse .
location
The settlement is located north of downtown Nuremberg , directly on the Nordring and Grolandstrasse. It borders in the east on the north station, which was closed in 2004 and which gave it its name, and in the south on the gardens behind the fortress . In summary with Maxfeld , the north-eastern parts of St. Johannis and gardens hdV, the settlement is regarded as part of the northern part of the city.
structure
The settlement consists entirely of three-story apartment buildings with a pitched roof, which were built according to standardized plans. The houses are essentially identical and differ slightly in terms of color and facade applications. Towards the north ring, a five-storey house with a flat roof spans the road leading to it and thus forms the urban development end to the north and at the same time an impressive gate situation. In the south and west, the settlement, which was built in an open block structure, merges seamlessly into the closed block structure of the upper-class Gardens hdV district.
The houses in the Nordbahnhofsiedlung mainly contain small and medium-sized apartments. They are still all owned by the WBG, the non-profit housing company of the city of Nuremberg. In recent years, various structural improvements and modernizations have been made, for example by adding balconies, in order to increase the attractiveness again.
history
The Nordbahnhof settlement was built as one of the city's major housing creation projects under Lord Mayor Hermann Luppe during the Weimar Republic. The planning was done in 1928 by the architect Ludwig Wagner-Speyer .
traffic
The Nordbahnhof settlement is moderately connected to the regional transport network. The city bus 65 runs along the north ring. The nearest stop in the rail network is the Kaulbachplatz underground station on line U 3, about 0.5 km south and already in the gardens hdV. The airport is around three kilometers and the main train station around 2.5 kilometers away. On the road side, the settlement is well connected to the urban and supraregional transport network through the Nordring ( Bundesstrasse 4 R ).
