The Steinbrüchlein (officially also Unterlangenlohe ) is a district of the Middle Franconian city of Nuremberg in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The wasteland lies in the southern urban area in the Eibacher Forest on the edge of the Kleinschwarzenlohe Forest . Today the place consists of a restaurant in the middle of the former mining area and used to serve as food for the workers working in the quarry . A community road leads to the Kettelersiedlung (1.2 km north) or to the state road 2406 (0.4 km south), which runs to junction 45 of the federal motorway 73 (0.5 km northeast) or to Worzeldorf (2 km south).

history

The quarry, first mentioned in a document in 1302, enjoyed economic success especially during the construction of the Ludwig Canal . Numerous workers were employed in the quarry and the inn had good income, especially on pay days. The former stone crusher settlement consisted of only one house until 1663. Stables, a small chapel and the tavern that still exists today were added later. However, the official name Unterlangenlohe could not prevail for the stone crusher settlement that was now created.

At the end of the 18th century there was 1 property in Steinbrüchlein. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach judge's office in Kornburg . The restaurant had the Forest Office Laurenzi the city of Nuremberg as a landlord .

As part of the municipal edict , Steinbrüchlein was assigned to the Großschwarzenlohe tax district in 1808 , Section II. It belonged to the rural community Kleinschwarzenlohe formed in 1818 .

On July 13, 1933, the then innkeeper of Steinbrüchlein, Karl Peuntinger, applied to the Worzeldorf municipal council to include Steinbrüchlein in Worzeldorf . Despite approval, the incorporation was not carried out. On May 1, 1978 Steinbrüchlein was incorporated into Nuremberg as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

Quarry

Towards the end of the Middle Ages around 1450, there were still 30 quarries in the area around Nuremberg. One of them was here. The broken stones were used as millstones, for building houses and structures such as B. the Sebalduskirche used. The sandstone quaters were transported by horse and cart. Around 1663 horse stables were built for changing horses. The stones were later shipped to remote construction sites on the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal . The Venetian Road, which leads south, was also a famous route of transport.

Today the former quarries are used by mountain bikers and day trippers. A forest playground has been located on the area since 2011.
