history

Front Castle (2007)

The first mentions go back to the knight's seat that already existed in 1180, today's "Tucherschloss" (Innstrasse 43-47). As the so-called Zeidel Muttergut , it was one of the primordial cells of settlement in the Nuremberg Reichswald . After the acquisition of the two imperial forests in 1396 and 1427 by the imperial city of Nuremberg, the imperial fiefs previously granted by the royal forester may have been expanded into patrician mansions.

Maiach came to Hilpolt Kreß in 1416 , around 1440 by marriage to the Pfinzing and in the late 15th century by further inheritance to Hans Gärtner am Markt , whose house was on Nuremberg's main market . In 1495, Hans IX. Tucher rule. The seat remained in the possession of the Tucher from 1495 to 1834. In the Second Margrave War in 1552, the town and manor were burned down, as was the Thirty Years War in 1632 by marauding imperial soldiers. In 1681/82 a new “Front Castle” was built immediately to the west of the ruins and (before 1700) the smaller “Rear Castle” was built on the foundations of the old Weiherhaus. Both became a popular Nuremberg excursion destination in the 19th century. The two castles were badly damaged by incendiary bombs in World War II in 1944. The rear mansion was restored in a simplified form around 1956, as a single-storey building with a small inner courtyard. The front castle was neglected for a long time, but has since been renovated as a residential building and supplemented with new row houses.

The place and the manor were under the parish of Eibach . In 1824 he owned five properties with 35 residents. The hamlet became Prussian in 1796 and Bavarian in 1806. From 1808/18 Maiach belonged to Eibach. In 1922 the place was incorporated into Nuremberg together with Eibach .

The port of Nuremberg , planned as early as 1926 , was built between 1968 and 1972 and covers 337 hectares with more than 200 companies.
