history

The area of today's Moorenbrunn was originally a closed forest area of the Lorenzer Reichswald . From 1920 the municipal welfare office had the area around what is now the Langwasser district cultivated as part of emergency work . In the course of this work, the Moorenbrunnfeld was cleared and in 1923 the urban Gutshof Moorenbrunn was built in the area of today's Gutshofstrasse . In 1925 the Altenfurt migrant work place was opened and from 1933 it was converted into a camp of the Reich Labor Service . In the years up to 1945 the Moorenbrunnfeld was at least partially used for military purposes and a second Wehrmacht camp was built. Remains of the warehouse buildings, the sewer system and paved roads are still visible from these camps, especially in the eastern part.

In the immediate vicinity of the camps near the manor, the “ Julius Streicher settlement”, today's Moorenbrunn district , was built between 1933 and 1938 .

Moorenbrunn today consists of "Alt-Moorenbrunn" and the new part built at the end of the 1960s, which adjoins the Moorenbrunnfeld.

In the zoning plan of the Fischbach community, to which Moorenbrunn belonged until it was incorporated in 1972 , the eastern part appears as an industrial area . The part to the west of Gleiwitzer Strasse has been designated as a landscape protection area by the city of Nuremberg . Lack of consent settlement industry a huge waste tires in stock and Nuremberg largest was built on the site junkyard . In 1984 the area was cleared out and Siemens AG settled on Gleiwitzer Strasse. In the meantime, the PAMEC company has also settled in the south of the site. The as yet unused "Restmoorenbrunnfeld" is available to the population as a popular open space for leisure activities. Sports facilities were created north of Schreiberhauer Strasse and additional businesses were established.
