Gerasmühle is a district in the southwest of Nuremberg and, as district 550, part of the statistical district 55 ( Krottenbach, Mühlhof ). Together with Lohhof it has about 400 inhabitants. Gerasmühle is located 2 km south of Stein , 1 km southwest of Eibach and 1 km northeast of Krottenbach . It is one of the few Nuremberg districts to the west of the Rednitz .

history

The place goes back to a gift from the knight Bruno v. Immeldorf from the family of the lords of Laufamholz in 1273. In addition to property in Deutenbach, Engelthal Abbey was bequeathed a mill in 'Genherstorf'.

Attractions

Gerasmühle is a popular excursion destination today. Almost like a museum village, it illustrates the typical development of the Nuremberg area from a hammer mill to an industrial settlement. When the Middle Franconian Open Air Museum was founded in Bad Windsheim , Gerasmühle was discussed as an alternative location. Until the 1970s there was a large beer garden, called the " summer cellar ", and the "Zur Gerasmühle" inn was located in the former mill building.
