Statistical breakdown of Nuremberg

Statistical Districts Nuremberg 2.svg

The statistical structure of Nuremberg is a multi-level and hierarchical division of the city area , which is based on recognizable boundaries such as streets, squares, railway lines or bodies of water. This makes it independent of the district names and district boundaries that have grown historically through the incorporation . This regional division was decided on December 18, 1968 by the city council and was last changed on May 7, 1997. The 10 statistical city districts are divided into 87 statistical districts and these are divided into a total of 316 districts . Each district is divided into "blocks" and these in turn are divided into "block pages".

Overview

The small-scale breakdown of the city of Nuremberg looks as follows: 10 statistical city districts comprise 87 statistical districts, these in turn 316 districts, which are further divided into 3755 blocks. The latter are again subdivided into 16848 block pages, i.e. the side of a block on a street section.

In 1995, 7 city districts were set up for district citizens' requests. Since district citizens' petitions were never carried out, however, they remained inoperative.

The following overview lists the 10 statistical districts with their associated statistical districts, each with their official number. The names of the statistical districts are only used for better distinction and were not determined by the city council.

Small-scale structure

The small-scale structure - from city districts down to block sides, the smallest agglomeration unit - is reflected in the hierarchical numbering. Each block page has a 7-digit key number that contains the numbers of the higher-level territorial units.

Digit 1: District
Positions 1–2: statistical district
Positions 1–3: District
Digits 1-6: block
Digit 1–7: block page

history

The city of Nuremberg has been publishing annual statistical yearbooks since 1909. These are based on a statistical breakdown that has changed repeatedly. In the last years of the Second World War from 1941 and in the post-war period until 1963, no statistical yearbooks were published.

In the first year of 1909 a distinction was made between the Sebalder side (north of the Pegnitz ) and Lorenzer side (south of the Pegnitz) and between the inner city , truce and suburbs . 6 districts were derived from the combinations. In addition to the division into city districts from 1909, the yearbook from 1915 also uses 31 statistical districts, which are also differentiated according to the Sebalder and Lorenzer side. In 1925 the statistical districts were reduced to 11 larger districts. The number increased to 12. After the war, Nuremberg was redistributed into 26 city districts, 97 statistical city districts and 353 statistical city districts.

On December 18, 1968, the Nuremberg city council decided to reorganize the urban area. The regional reform in Bavaria on July 1, 1972 led to a significant expansion of the Nuremberg urban area. The new multi-level and hierarchical division was applied to the enlarged urban area, whereby each structural element is referenced by a number of up to six digits. A single-digit number designates one of the 10 districts, which consist of up to 10 districts, which are represented by a two-digit number, whereby the first digit means the district in which the district is located. This scheme continues on the next levels. A district contains a maximum of 10 districts, which consist of up to a maximum of 100 blocks and a maximum of 10 block pages. This principle continues to this day. In 1995 the number of blocks increased to 1000 per district. This made the number for block pages seven digits.

The law amending the municipal code of December 27, 1996 leads to a city council resolution of May 7, 1997, which resulted in a city district statute dividing the city area into 7 city districts, which are named after the cardinal points. In the following years these city districts are mentioned in the statistical yearbooks, in addition to the statistical classification. As of the 2001 yearbook, the city districts are omitted.

Citizens Assembly Areas

In Nuremberg, citizens' assemblies are held regularly at intervals of around two years, at which the development of the area and the current urban planning are presented in a multimedia show, among other things using static summaries. For these assemblies, 18 citizens' assembly areas were defined, which are based on the small-scale structure of Nuremberg. Most city statistical districts belong entirely to a citizens' assembly area. But there are also exceptions in which different districts of a district have been assigned to different citizens' assembly areas. The last change in these areas took place on December 2, 2002.
