Marshalling yard is the name of Statistical District 41 in the southeast of Nuremberg . It belongs to the statistical district 4 (southern outer city).

location

The marshalling yard district is located in the south-east of Nuremberg, about 5 kilometers from the city center, in the southern part includes the facilities of the Nuremberg shunting yard . The much larger northern area around Brunecker Straße has been largely fallow for many years. The former freight yard ( Nürnberg Südbahnhof ) was used as a scrap yard after it was closed. The area has now been largely cleared.

Planning

By 2018, the city wants to build 90 hectares in four sections in the area of Brunecker Strasse; the future district will be called Lichtenreuth . 2000 residential units are planned, but also a third of commercial space and a third of green space.
