The industrial area forms a closed settlement with Großgründlach to the northeast , Steinach to the west and Bislohe to the south . The Knoblauchsland borders in the east .

The agriculturally used areas east of Wiesbadener Straße are characterized by a large number of ground-breeding bird species such as lapwing, partridge and skylark.

history

The field name "Schmalenau" has been used since around 1700. The area has been incorporated into Nuremberg since 1972 . Today it is part of the statistical districts 78 (Großgründlach) and 79 (Boxdorf) with 141 and 38 residents respectively (as of December 31, 1997).

traffic

To the west of Schmalau is the A 73 , through which the Bislohe-Schmalau industrial area with its own motorway exit (Fürth Steinach) is easily accessible. The district road N 3 / FÜs 4 runs to Herboldshof (1.4 km west) or past Großgründlach and Boxdorf to the federal road 4 (1.8 km east). Communal roads run to Steinach (0.8 km west), Bislohe (0.5 km south) and Boxdorf (1.4 km east).
