geography
The wasteland lies on the Gründlach and is surrounded by alluvial and mill ponds. A little further south is the wooded area of the Maze. A community connecting road leads to Kleingründlach (0.3 km northwest) or to Großgründlach (0.7 km southeast).
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1430/40 as "Obern mule pei den weyhern". It was given the place name to distinguish it from the Mittelmühle and the Königs- or Untere Mühle , both of which are located further east on the Gründlach.
Towards the end of the 18th century, the upper mill belonged to Kleingründlach . The high court exercised the imperial city of Nuremberg , which was disputed by the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Oberamt Baiersdorf . The Nuremberg owner von Haller held the manorial lordship over the mill . Under the Prussian administration (1792–1806) of the Principality of Bayreuth, the upper mill was given house number 77 in Großgründlach .
As part of the municipal edict, Obermühle was assigned to the Großgründlach tax district formed in 1811 . It also belonged to the rural community Großgründlach , which was founded in the same year .
On July 1, 1972, the upper mill was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria after eingemeindet Nuremberg .
