Juan Luis Cebrián Echarri (born October 30, 1944 in Madrid ) is a Spanish journalist , writer and media entrepreneur .

Life

In 1976, alongside Jesús de Polanco, Cebrián was one of the founders of the Spanish daily El País . As de Polanco's personal assistant, he was also involved in the founding and expansion of the largest Spanish media group, PRISA , which is active in 22 countries . With the individual group companies such as Cinco Días , As , Cadena SER and various TV channels such as Sogecable , of which he has been President since 2008, he was also responsible for the IPO of PRISA in 2000. After de Polanco's death in 2007, he succeeded him as managing director.

As a novelist, Cebrián published despite his many obligations. In 1997 he was appointed to the Royal Spanish Academy .

Cebrián is a participant in the Bilderberg Conference . He is married and has a daughter and a son.
