Juan Pablo Valencia González (born May 2, 1988 in Medellín ) is a former Colombian cyclist .

Athletic career

Juan Pablo Valencia was the 2010 Colombian road racing champion in the U23 class. From 2012 he drove for the Professional Continental Team Colombia , initially as a stagiaire . In the same year he finished second in the Giro del Veneto behind the winner Oscar Gatto . In 2015 he started at the Vuelta a España and came in 87th overall.

After the sport

After ending his career in 2015, Valencia moved to Italy, where he was arrested in early 2019 on suspicion of drug trafficking. The Italian police found two bags of 20 grams of cocaine in the tubes of his bicycle, and during a search of his house, additional cocaine and a large amount of cash.
