Juan Paz y Miño

Juan J. Paz y Miño Cepada is an Ecuadorian historian, publicist, and intellectual.

He studied political science at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) in Quito , where he did his doctorate in history. He is currently working at the PUCE as a professor of economic history in Ecuador and Latin America. There he heads the Taller de Historia Económica research institute . Juan Paz y Miño is Vice President and Scientific Director in Ecuador of the Association of Latin American and Caribbean Historians (Asociación de Historiadores Latinoamericanos y del Caribe, ADHILAC) and a member of the Ecuadorian National Academy of History (Academia Nacional de Historia del Ecuador). He regularly writes articles in the Ecuadorian daily newspapers Diario HOY , El Comercio and the journal Gestión .

His specialties are Ecuadorian liberalism, in particular the liberal revolution Eloy Alfaros , social movements , the development of the external debt of Ecuador , parties and unions in Ecuador.
