Juanne Hugo "Juan" Smith (born July 30, 1981 in Bloemfontein ) is a South African rugby union player, who as a winger and number eight for the South African national team , in the Currie Cup for the Free State Cheetahs and in the Super 14 for the Central Cheetahs plays. In 2007 he became world champion with the "Springboks" .
Career
Smith first drew attention to himself in 2002 when he took part in the World Cup for this age group with South Africa's U21 national team. In the same year his playing career began in the Currie Cup. 2003 ran for the first time for Cats in the Super 12. When he founded his own franchise in the province of Free State , the Central Cheetahs, he switched to his current team.
Smith made his debut for the South African men's national team at the Tri Nations in 2003 . He won the Three Nations Tournament in 2004 and the title at the 2007 World Championships . In 2008 he succeeded with the "Springboks" to win all games against British national teams. In 2009 he was part of the South African squad for the British and Irish Lions Tour . The Springboks won the series 2-1 and also secured the third title at the Tri Nations in the same year.
