Juan Carlos Pereda , commonly known as Juan Son , (born November 24, 1984 in Guadalajara , Mexico ) is a Mexican singer and composer of experimental music. He is a former member of the indie rock band Porter .

biography

Juan's son, born Juan Carlos Pereda in 1984, began his artistic career in 2001 in a rock band from his hometown of Guadalajara. In 2003, at the age of 19, he went to London to study contemporary music . A year later he returned and singer of the band was Porter (literally Porter ). His tenor voice briefly made the five-piece band one of the most popular groups in the indie rock movement. After a brief successful run, the group split due to creative differences, and Son became a solo singer . His first album, Mermaid Sashimi (2009), earned him a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Song . Sons uses techniques such as sampling , voice effects, wordless singing, and singing in different languages. In 2010 he moved to New York, where he met many famous people in music. With Simone Pace, the drummer of Blonde Redhead , he created the album Space Hymns , a collaboration between the two under the name AEIOU .
