Jub Mönster (* 1949 in Oldenburg ; bourgeois Bernd Werner Joseph Mönster ) is a German painter and draftsman .

From 1970 to 1976 Jub Mönster studied painting, sculpture, photography and film at the University of Design in Bremen . From 1977 to 1983 he studied art and technical works at the University of Bremen, where he passed the first state examination for teaching at grammar schools. In 1972 his work was shown in a first solo exhibition in the Small Gallery in Oldenburg. In 1978 he took part in the Great Oldenburg Art Exhibition in the Oldenburg City Museum. In the following years he took part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Poland, the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Italy.

In 1987 the first children's book illustrated by Jub Mönster, My Lost Land by Huynh Quang Nhuong, won the German Youth Literature Prize. In the same year the book Soheila or Ein Himmel aus Glas by Hansjörg Betschart , which he illustrated, was awarded the lynx of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit . In the years that followed, this led to numerous commissioned works for children's and youth literature in Germany , Austria and Switzerland .

Since 1979, more than 40 large-scale murals have been created at home and abroad.

The architecture project for the long-term unemployed, founded by the artist in 2000 , was awarded the prize 365 Orte, Germany, Land of Ideas by Federal President Horst Köhler in 2009 and he himself was awarded the Bremen drum in the town hall for his social commitment in 2010 .

Jub Mönster was a founding member of the Society for Current Art in Bremen in 1980 , the winner of several competitions and was awarded scholarships in Norway, France and Italy, among others. Since 2016 he has been a member of the German Association of Artists . His works can be found in numerous private and public collections.
