Judith Farnworth

Judith Margaret Farnworth (* 1966 ) is a British diplomat . She was ambassador to Bishkek from 2012 to 2015 and has been the British ambassador to Yerevan since 2015 .

Life

Judith Farnworth graduated from the University of Durham with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian and Philosophy in 1988 . In 1990 she did a Master of Arts in International Relations at the University of East Anglia in Norwich .

Diplomatic career

After completing her studies, she started in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office . From 1991 to 1995 she was senior research analyst in the research and analysis department. Her first assignment abroad was from 1996 to 2000 as a second secretary at the British embassy in Ukraine . From 2000 to 2004 she was head of the political department at the embassy in Prague . As deputy head of mission and envoy, she was at the embassy in Riga from 2005 to 2008 and again in Kiev from 2008 to 2012 .

Judith Farnworth's first assignment as ambassador was from 2012 to 2015 at the newly opened British embassy in Kyrgyzstan . Before that, Kyrgyzstan had received diplomatic support from the British embassy in Kazakhstan . Robin Ord-Smith was her successor in Bishkek . Since September 2015 she has been the successor to the diplomatic couple Jonathan Aves and Katherine Leach as Ambassador to Armenia .
