The youth organization Bund Naturschutz (JBN) is the children's and youth association of the Bundes Naturschutz in Bayern e. V. (BN) and regional association of BUNDjugend . It was founded in 1976 and is currently the largest Bavarian youth environmental association with around 27,000 members . Anyone under the age of 27 and a member of the BN is a member of the JBN.

Association goals

The youth organization aims to protect and care for nature and to promote child and youth work. Pedagogical and environmental aspects should be linked.

structure

The JBN reaches local representation through 216 children, 31 Müpfe, and 16 youth groups. This threefold structure has existed since 1999, when the Müpfeprojekt (for 12 to 15 year olds) was launched. The association structure also has several levels, the state level with the state board (Lavo) and their representatives, the district level with district youth leaders (Bezi) and the "base", i.e. the groups and so-called "free" members. This structure is intended to ensure good cooperation between members and groups at regional and supra-regional level. The regional office in Munich represents the central coordination role and starting point for many actions. The regional executive committee is responsible for dealing with the goals and management of the association. The district youth leaders have the task of connecting the groups, the members, the state board and the state office. The campaigns and events are organized and carried out by voluntary and / or full-time employees. A large number of voluntary working groups and project groups carry out actions and events on a supraregional level, groups on a regional level, or take care of internal association matters. Twice a year there is a JVV (annual general meeting) for all members, the goals are decided, responsible such as state boards, representatives in the federal nature conservation and at the BUNDjugend are elected and directional decisions are discussed (an interesting supporting program is provided) also young people who attend the association or the work are interested in here.

The organizational development (OE), which has been running since mid-2005, has meanwhile (May 2007) led to constant dynamic further development and strives to optimize the work of the association in order to better use available resources for its own goals.

JBN press action against genetic manipulation

activities

The fields of activity extend both to environmentally-politically motivated actions and to conveying an improved perception of nature and holistic thinking.

Political influence

The JBN attracts the attention of regional and national press through numerous campaigns. This usually results in contact with important Bavarian politicians. An example of what the participation in the popular initiative “For the love of the forest” against the forest reform in Bavaria , in which attention was drawn to the initiative with an information bus at almost 40 stations throughout Bavaria.

Tent camp

The annual tent camps are also of particular importance. The “One Earth Summer Camp” in 2005 was a great success with over 200 children and young people taking part, as well as guests from Poland and Slovakia.

Voluntary ecological year

Since September 1995 the JBN has been one of the three Bavarian associations of the Voluntary Ecological Year, alongside the Evangelical Youth and the Federation of German Catholic Youth . The JBN currently supports around a third of the more than 150 young adults in their efforts to preserve the environment in Bavaria.

Camp and seminar program

In two annual camp and seminar programs, the planned events are presented and advertised separately for children and children's group leaders as well as for Müpfe, teenagers and young adults.

history

It was founded in 1976 when the first guidelines were issued and the first regional youth leadership was elected. In addition, the association magazine appeared for the first time under the name "Igel", which was initially only sent to youth groups. Two years later it was included in the statutes of the parent association Bund Naturschutz in Bayern e. V. Another two years passed before the youth organization Bund Naturschutz was recognized by the Bavarian Youth Ring (BJR) in May 1980. 1984 brought new successes. For the first time it was possible to publish a camp and seminar program, and the JBN became a member of the main committee of the BJR. The federal association, BUNDjugend, was founded not least on the initiative of Bavaria . In 1986 there were 8,000 members and the first full-time speaker. Five years later these numbers had doubled; On the occasion of the 15th birthday, 400 children and young people from the now almost 20,000 members celebrated the “Festival of the Future” in Königsdorf in Upper Bavaria . International contacts were established for the first time in 1994 through cooperation with the Slovak organization Strom Života. At the "One Earth Summer Camp 2005" an encounter of all age groups from 5-year-old children in the children's group to 27-year-old FÖJers as well as young people from Poland and Slovakia was initiated. In 2007, international contacts will be further expanded, for example with a sailing holiday on the Baltic Sea and a trip to Russia. The promotion of multipliers and political interference, for example in group leader seminars and demonstrations against genetic engineering, will continue to be a top priority.
