Juice = Juice is a Japanese girl group under the Hello! Project , which consists almost entirely of former members of Hello! Pro Kenshūsei exists. It was founded on February 3, 2013.
history
Tsunku presented the formation as part of the Bravo 2013 winter concert . However, the group remained nameless until February 25. It was also announced that the formation may change. Five of the six girls come from Hello! Pro Kenshūsei program, the only exception is Yuka Miyazaki, who had previously participated in the S / mileage Audition, but was not selected there and instead made her debut in the Satoyama group Green Fields . There she is still a member, while Karin Miyamoto ended her work under PINK! SS in order to concentrate fully on Juice = Juice. The group made their debut at the Hinamatsuri Festival in 2013.
At an event on June 13, 2013 in Ikebukuro Sunshine City , the group's major debut was announced. Her first major single called Romance no Tochū was released that same summer. The single was released as Triple A-side and contained both the new song and new recordings of the first two singles. Thanks to extensive advertising measures, the single sold over 38,000 times in the first week and hit the debut singles of the other Hello Project groups Berryz Kobo , ° C-ute and S / mileage . In addition, producer Tsunku announced the decision that Yuka Miyazaki would be leader and Tomoko Kanazawa would be sub-leader of the group.
On July 5th the Hello! Project announced on its website that Aina Ōtsuka would leave the Project and thus also from Juice = Juice. The reason given was that Ōtsuka's family did not agree to their contract. Juice = Juice will continue as a group of 5 members.
From October 12 to November 17, 2013, Juice = Juice went on a tour with Berryz Kōbō called ナ ル チ カ (“ naruchika ”, from Japanese “ narudake chikaku ”, dt. About “as close as possible”). On March 21, 2014, the girls' first solo tour for the summer of 2014 was announced. On the day of their first indoor concert tour, the group announced that they would release a first album in July 2015.
In February 2016, a dorama called “ Budokan ” started on FujiTV. The main roles, the members of the band NEXT YOU , are played by the Juice = Juice members. The seventh single “ Next is you! / Karada Dake ga Otona ni Nattan ja nai “is the theme song for the dorama and was published under the name NEXT YOU .
A world tour has been announced for September 2017, during which the group will visit Thailand, Malaysia, Mexico, the USA, France, Great Britain and Germany. The concert in Germany will take place on September 17th in Dortmund. Also in 2017, two new members joined the group: Nanami Yanagawa from Country Girls and Ruru Danbara from Hello Pro Kenshūsei . In June of the following year the group got another member with Manaka Inaba.
2019 and 2020 brought big changes for the group. Miyazaki and Yanagawa left the group in 2019. Miyamoto has announced their graduation for summer 2020. From summer on, the former Kobushi Factory member Rei Inoue will join Juice = Juice instead .

Until their debut, Juice = Juice had neither leaders nor subleaders. When the group was founded, the members were assigned types of fruit that represented their member colors (peach for Miyazaki's pink, apple for Kanazawa's red, etc.). However, this concept was discarded after the indies phase. The new members received colors with no reference to fruit types.
