Julian Riess (* January 8, 1891 ; † January 29, 1961 ) was an Austrian politician, manufacturer and biologist. Riess was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament in 1934 .

Julian Riess came from a family of pan smiths and was the last qualified pan smith. In 1914 he took over a pan forge with his brothers in the 7th generation (the founding of the pan hammer falls in the year 1550) and built a factory for stamped and enameled goods. Between 1926 and 1936, the Riess brothers built two power plants with an attached fish pass, thus supplying the plant with 100% renewable energy. During the time of Austrofascism, Julian Riess represented the state of industry and mining between November 22, 1934 and December 28, 1934 in the Lower Austrian state parliament. He resigned his mandate to protest against legislative decisions that, in his opinion, were against man and nature. He was also active as a local councilor. Julian Riess died a few days after his 70th birthday.
