Act

Anna Selbdritt in Stralsund

Juliane von Firck's art-historical contribution to the quality of Anna Selbdritt's stucco sculpture in the St. Nikolai church in Stralsund in the non-fiction book of the same name resulted in a new date for the creation of the sculpture. So far this has been assigned to the 14th century. Using the classical method of style criticism, however, Fircks determined the temporal origin of sculpture around the middle of the 13th century, the high Gothic period .

In the book Liturgical Vestments of the Middle Ages from St. Nicolai and Stralsund , Juliane von Fircks and Birgit Krenz provide a scientific representation and assessment of medieval liturgical vestments from the collection of the cultural history museum in Stralsund. On the one hand, the supra-regional significance of the Stralsund holdings is shown and, on the other hand, the epoch of the late Middle Ages is documented in its worldwide network. The catalog, which forms the main part of the book, goes into more detail on 39 individual textiles, their patterns and processing. The book shows that there is a need for further research into the production sites of the liturgical vestments.
