Volkmar Herre

Volkmar Herre (* 1943 in Freiberg ) is a German photographer, book designer and publisher.

Volkmar Herre started taking photos at the age of ten. After graduating from high school in 1961, he completed a two-year training course as a commercial typesetter . From 1963 he completed his photography studies at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art in 1968 with a degree in photography. He has been working as a freelance photographer and book designer since 1969. He has lived in Stralsund since 1986 , where he has been running Edition herre since 1996 . One focus of his work is working with the camera obscura . Some of his pictures are created on the small island of Vilm south of Rügen .

Herre's great-grandfather was the photographer August Kotzsch .
