Julie Cox Kent (born July 11, 1969 in Bethesda, Maryland ) is an American ballet dancer .

Kent began her dance training with the Academy of Maryland Ballet . She also took part in a summer workshop with the youth company of the American Ballet Theater and attended the School of American Ballet . In 1985 she joined the American Ballet Theater as an apprentice , and in 1986 she became a member of the Corps de ballet . He was appointed principal dancer in 1993.

Kent's repertoire includes the leading roles of the great classical ballets as well as modern works. Many choreographers have written choreographies especially for them.

In 2000, Kent played the role of Kathleen Donahue in the American ballet film Center Stage .

Kent is married to the Vice Director of the American Ballet Theater Victor Barbee . They have a son and a daughter.
