Juliette Pétrie

Juliette Pétrie (born Juliette Vermeersch ; born February 18, 1900 in Saint-Hyacinthe , † March 13, 1995 in Montreal ) was a Canadian actress, comedian, singer and dancer.

Along with her husband Arthur Pétrie , Olivier Guimond and his wife Effie Mac, Petrie is considered the founder of burlesque theater in Québec. She made her debut in 1921 shortly after her marriage in her husband's drama troupe, the Poupées francaises, and soon established herself there as an actress and dancer. In 1926 she met Rose Ouellette , with whom she worked successfully as one of the few female comedian duos until the 1950s. She was also known as a film and television actress (including in the series La pension Velder , 1957–61; Symphorien , 1970–77; Grand-papa , 1976–79). In 1991 she was awarded the Prix ​​Victor des Festival Juste pour Rire .
